Iqra was a bright and cheerful girl who loved going to school. She was really good at her studies—she always got high marks in Math, Science, and other subjects. But there was one thing she found very difficult: creative writing.
Whenever the teacher asked the class to write a story or an essay, Iqra felt nervous. “I don’t know how to put my thoughts on paper,” she would whisper to herself. Because of this, she always waited until the last minute, and then her parents would help her by writing the essay for her.
This continued until she reached Grade 10. But one day, her mother said, “Iqra, you’re old enough to try writing on your own. I know you can do it!”
“But what if I mess up?” Iqra asked sadly.
Her mother smiled and said, “It’s okay to try and not get it right. What matters is that you try.”
Iqra still felt unsure, but then she remembered a quote she had read:
“Try and fail, but never fail to try.”
So, she picked up her pencil and gave it a go. It wasn’t easy, and she wasn’t sure if it was any good—but she did her best. When she handed it in, her teacher read it and smiled. “Well done, Iqra!” she said. “You’ve written from the heart.”
That made Iqra happy, but she still felt a little scared to write again. “What if my next story isn’t good?” she wondered.
Her mother encouraged her gently, “It doesn’t have to be perfect. It just has to be yours.”
So Iqra kept trying. She wrote about flowers, animals, rainbows, kindness, and even funny things that happened at school. Slowly, her confidence began to grow.
Then came her big English exam. The topic was Kindness. Iqra took a deep breath and started writing. She wrote about kindness in families, kindness in animals, and the kindness of God. She gave it her best shot.
When the results came, Iqra was shocked—she was in the top five students in her class!
That wasn’t the end of her story. She kept writing more and more. One day, she sent a story to a magazine—and guess what? They published it! Iqra couldn’t believe it. She had done it!
From that day on, Iqra believed in herself. She had learned that when you try with all your heart, amazing things can happen.
Where there is a will, there is a way.
