Arsalan was sitting in his room, feeling very worried. His exams were just one week away, and he hadn’t studied at all! He thought to himself, “What if I fail? What will happen then?”
All year long, Arsalan had spent his time playing games and hanging out with his friends. He didn’t pay attention to school or his homework. But Arsalan wasn’t always like this. Back in school, he was a good student and even got top marks!
Things started to change when he made new friends. They liked to skip classes, go on long drives, and sit in cafés doing nothing important. Arsalan wanted to feel accepted, so he joined them. Slowly, he stopped going to class. He also started coming home late, telling lies, and even shouting at his parents. This made his parents very sad, but they still loved him and hoped he would change.
Now, with exams so close, Arsalan was scared. He talked to his friends, hoping they felt the same. But they just laughed.
“Who cares about exams?” they said.
That made Arsalan feel a little better. But he knew deep inside that failing wouldn’t make his parents happy. So, he made a bad decision. “I’ll cheat,” he thought. He hid tiny notes under his shirt and planned to take them out during the test when the teacher wasn’t looking.
On the exam day, Arsalan sat nervously at his desk. His heart was beating fast. Then, the invigilator (the exam supervisor) walked in and started checking everyone’s desks and clothes.
Arsalan began to sweat. “I should leave before they catch me,” he thought. He quickly handed in his paper and stood up to walk away.
But then came a strong voice, “No one is allowed to leave until checking is finished!”
Arsalan froze in fear. He was stuck.
He remembered what his father had once told him, “Don’t keep bad company. It will harm your future.”
And now, here he was, caught trying to cheat. The invigilator checked him and found the notes. Arsalan’s paper was cancelled. His classmates stared at him, and some of his friends even smirked. They hadn’t cheated, but Arsalan had—and now he was in trouble.
Feeling ashamed, Arsalan went home with tears in his eyes. He hugged his father tightly and said, “I’m sorry. I made a big mistake.”
His father didn’t shout. He gently said, “It’s never too late to change. Learn from this.”
From that day, Arsalan decided to become a better student. He stayed away from bad company and worked hard to make his parents proud again.
