When you have a magic crayon, your imagination is just the beginning!
What if everything you drew could come to life? Thatās exactly what happens in Harold and the Purple Crayon, a colorful new movie based on the beloved book that many of us have read in school.
Harold is a curious boy with a magical purple crayon. With just a few squiggles and doodles, he can draw anything he dreams of ā from roller skates to airplanes! But in this movie adventure, Harold steps out of his crayon-drawn world and into the real one, where he finds new friends, new challenges, and big lessons about bravery and creativity.
Haroldās animal pals Moose and Porcupine join the fun too! They turn into humans in the real world but still act a little bit like animals, making everyone laugh. Along the way, Harold meets a kind woman named Terri and her son Mel, who has an imaginary dragon friend named Carl. Together, they help Harold learn how to solve real-life problems with kindness and imagination.
The movie has a bad guy too ā Gary Natwick, a grumpy librarian who wants to be a famous author. When Harold shares his magical crayon with Gary, things get a little wild! But donāt worry ā Haroldās creativity helps save the day.
Directed by Carlos Saldanha (the genius behind Ice Age and Rio) and starring Zachary Levi as Harold, this 90-minute movie is full of heart, fun, and lots of drawing magic. It reminds us that imagination isnāt just for fun ā it can help us be brave, solve problems, and create a world full of possibilities.
If you loved movies like Jumanji or IF, youāll love Harold and the Purple Crayon. It’s a perfect pick for kids who love to draw, dream, and believe that anything is possible with a little creativity.
