By a Young Dreamer
Sometimes, we love something so much that letting go feels impossible. I think we all have something like that—maybe a toy, a blanket, or even a water bottle.
For me, it was my green water bottle. I had it since I was little, and I used it every single day. It wasn’t just any bottle—it was a special gift from my father, who means the world to me.
But today, it broke. And even though it’s just a thing, my heart felt like it broke too.
You see, the bottle reminded me of so many memories. Of being cared for. Of feeling loved. And when it shattered, it also reminded me of something even bigger—my dream.
I’ve always wanted to be an aerospace engineer. I love learning about space and stars and rockets. But I wasn’t allowed to apply to the universities I dreamed of because they were far from home. “It’s not safe for girls,” my parents said. I know they care about me deeply, but it still hurt. It felt like they didn’t believe in my dreams.
Even though I respect and love my parents, I also believe that dreams matter. Especially the ones that make your heart race with excitement.
Looking up at the stars reminds me how big the universe is—and how small our problems are. Space teaches me that there’s no room for anger or jealousy or sadness when you realize how vast everything is. There’s only room for hope, and love, and faith.
We do a lot for our parents out of love. And I know we can never thank them enough for all they do. But I also believe that we should hold onto our dreams, no matter what. Because dreams help us grow, and one day, they might even help us shine.
