Everyone in class was busy getting ready for the big exams. Books were open, pencils were scribbling, and students were trying their best to remember everything. But Anila didn’t seem worried at all.

She was a smart girl, but instead of studying like the others, she had a different plan. She liked to write tiny notes — called cheat chits — and hide them in her sleeves, on her hands, or even inside her desk. She had used them before and never got caught. But this time was different…

It was the board exam, and serious teachers called invigilators came from other schools to make sure everything was fair.

As soon as the first paper started, Anila secretly pulled out one of her tiny notes from under the desk. She smiled, thinking, “Easy!” But then…

One of the invigilators noticed her moving her hands strangely. He walked quickly to her desk and said in a loud voice, “Stand up!”

Anila froze. Her face turned pale. As she stood up, a small piece of paper fell from her lap onto the floor.

The whole hall went quiet.

The teacher picked up the paper, looked at Anila, and without saying another word, wrote “Cancelled” in red on her exam paper. She was told to leave the room.

Anila wanted to cry. Her heart was heavy, and her eyes filled with tears. As she walked out of the hall, she whispered, “Oh no… what will I tell my parents? Why did I do this?”

She had not just lost her exam — she had lost everyone’s trust.

Outside, the other students felt both sad and proud. Sad for Anila, but proud that they had chosen to study and try their best — even if it was hard.

They all learned something that day:

Cheating might help someone in one test, but it never helps in life. In real life, you need to know things, not just pretend to. There are no secret notes or shortcuts when you grow up — only hard work, good habits, and honesty.

Anila had made a big mistake, but she also learned a big lesson. And maybe, just maybe, she would never cheat again.
