🌍 Biggest Bird on Earth!
Ostriches are the largest and heaviest birds in the whole world! They can grow up to 2.5 meters (8 feet) tall and weigh as much as 145 kg (320 pounds) — that’s heavier than some pandas! Because they’re so heavy, they can’t fly, but they’re built for running, not flying!
🙈 Do They Really Bury Their Heads?
Nope! Ostriches do not bury their heads in the sand. That’s just a silly myth! When they bend down to eat food or check their eggs, it only looks like they’re hiding. But really, they’re just taking care of their business on the ground.
👁️ Big Eyes, Tiny Brain
Ostriches have huge eyes—the biggest of any bird! Their eyes are even bigger than their brains, which are about the size of a walnut. They may not be the smartest birds, but they can spot danger from 3.5 km (2.2 miles) away!
🏃♂️ Super Speed Runner
With strong legs and just two toes, ostriches are made to run really fast. They can sprint up to 70 km/h (43 mph)—that’s as fast as a car! And they can keep running at 50 km/h (31 mph) without getting tired. One step can stretch up to 5 meters (16 feet)!
🥋 Powerful Kicks!
Ostriches don’t need to fly—they’ve got super strong legs! Each foot has a sharp claw, and their kick can seriously hurt a predator. So if something tries to mess with them, they’re ready to fight back!
