🌟 Did You Know? Fun Peanut Facts! 🥜

Peanuts aren’t actually nuts!
Even though they have “nut” in their name, peanuts are really legumes! That means they grow underground, just like beans and lentils. Real nuts, like hazelnuts and chestnuts, grow on trees. So peanuts are more like cousins to peas and chickpeas than to actual nuts!

What’s a peanut gallery?
A long time ago, the “peanut gallery” was the name for the cheap seats way in the back of a theatre. People sitting there would eat peanuts (they were the cheapest snack!) and sometimes even toss them at the stage if they didn’t like the show. That’s where the funny name came from!

Peanut shells can help the Earth!
When you’re done munching on peanuts, don’t toss the shells in the trash! They can be used to make compost, kitty litter, or even fireplace logs. Some people even use them as eco-friendly packing material. That’s a nutty way to go green!

Peanut butter was made for people without teeth!
In 1895, Dr. John Harvey Kellogg (yes, the cereal guy!) made peanut butter to help patients who couldn’t chew. It was full of protein and easy to eat. Peanut butter made its big debut at the St. Louis World’s Fair in 1904—and the world has loved it ever since!
