⚔️Make Your Own Paper Sword!⚔️

Hey future warriors! 🏯
Did you know paper and cardboard can turn into amazing things? From flowers to castles, you can make tons of cool crafts. Today, we’re going on a fun adventure to build a Japanese chokuto sword — a small, awesome sword with a covered blade. Ready to unleash your inner warrior? Let’s make it!

🧰 What You’ll Need:

  • 1 A4-sized plain paper (any colour) — for the sword’s blade
  • 1 piece of coloured paper — for the handle
  • Double-sided tape
  • Scotch tape
  • Scissors or paper cutter (ask an adult to help!)
  • Patterned paper (A4 size) — for the sword cover

🛠️ How to Make Your Paper Sword:

Step 1:
Fold your plain A4 paper in half, then cut it into two pieces. Take one piece and roll it tightly from one corner to make a thin stick — this will be your sword blade! Use scotch tape to hold it in place.

Step 2:
Take the other piece of paper. Fold it lengthwise in half, then fold it in half lengthwise again until you get a long, narrow strip about 1 inch wide.

Step 3:
Stick double-sided tape along the middle fold to keep it tight and neat.

Step 4:
Flip the strip over, add more double-sided tape in the middle, and fold it in half one more time — now you have a strong strip for the handle!

Step 5:
Cut the top of the strip into a shape you like — either pointed or flat.

Step 6:
Slide the thin rolled blade into the bottom of the handle strip, and wrap it with your coloured paper to make it look like a real sword handle.

Step 7:
Want to make your sword look even cooler? Let’s add a cross-guard (the part that protects your hand).
Cut a piece of paper about 4 inches long and 2.5 inches wide. Fold the top and bottom corners inward.

Step 8:
Fold the middle section inward twice, then cut a small slit in the center — this is where your sword will go.

Step 9:
Fold down the sides, then open the top fold and press the creases down to form a pointy cross-guard shape.

Step 10:
Slide your sword through the slit in the cross-guard.

Step 11:
Finally, let’s make a cover (sheath) for your sword. Measure the blade and cut a piece of patterned paper big enough to wrap it. Fold and tape it around the blade — now your sword looks even cooler!

🎉 Your paper chokuto sword is ready! Challenge your friends or siblings to a fun (and safe!) sword fight.
