It was the last lesson of the day at school. The classroom was warm, and all of us were feeling sleepy and tired. The sun had been shining so hot for days, and we were all hoping for a little rain — just like the weather report had promised.
Around 1:30 in the afternoon, something magical happened. Dark, puffy clouds started to roll across the sky like a cozy grey blanket. Soon, everything outside looked dim and cool. Our teacher noticed how sleepy we were and kindly gave us a few minutes to rest.
Just then, we heard a plip on the window.
“It’s raining!” shouted my friend sitting near the window.
Instantly, the whole class jumped up with joy! Our sleepiness disappeared, and smiles lit up every face. Cool breezes rushed into the classroom, and tiny drops of rain danced on the windows. I stretched my hand out, and when a raindrop touched it, it felt like the world had just hit the refresh button.
The heat was gone, and in its place was a soft, sweet breeze. We played little games, laughed together, and enjoyed the moment. It felt like a celebration.
Soon, it was time to go home. But no one wanted to leave just yet — even our teachers were excited to feel the rain! Students lined up on the stairs, giggling and looking out at the wet schoolyard. As parents began arriving to pick up their children, we all rushed out with our umbrellas (and some without!) into the beautiful rain.
The roads were already filled with puddles, even though the rain had only been falling for a little while. Sitting in the car, with raindrops tapping on the window, I felt so happy. I even hummed a little tune while enjoying the lovely weather.
But then, something made me stop and think deeply.
As we drove home, I saw some people on the streets trying to cover themselves with cloth and sticks, hiding under trees or tiny shelters. They had no homes to go to — no warm clothes, no umbrellas, and no roofs to keep them dry.
I felt blessed to be safe and dry, but also a little sad and helpless. I wanted to help them, but I didn’t know how.
That night, I kept thinking about them. And the next morning, as I walked to school under a bright sun, I saw those same people still waiting on the streets. I wondered — were they waiting for better days? For someone to help? For their lives to change?
That day, I made a promise to myself. I will study hard, be strong, and one day, I will help people like them. Maybe I couldn’t do anything just yet, but in the future, I will work to make my country a better place — where no one has to wait in the rain without shelter.
Sometimes, even a simple rainy day can teach us something big.
